National Clean Up Your Room Day

Put it in its place.

Regardless of which room you’re cleaning, chances are there may be some things in that room that don’t belong there. So, get them out! Do you have cups, bowls or utensils from the kitchen? Or perhaps books and papers from the office? Maybe even a few items that can be thrown away? If it doesn’t belong in the room, start by moving it out of the way (and no, we don’t mean on the floor of the room next door).

Organize with the help of under-bed storage.

The reality is you’re always going to need storage, and we’re guessing you have a bed or futon to sleep on. Under-bed storage containers combine these two things to bring you convenient, out-of-the-way storage for your bedroom. This storage is a great place to store heavy sweaters in the summer and sundresses in the winter.

Get rid of old clothes.

Make an effort to go through your closet. Have you worn everything recently? Is everything in your closet still something you’d pick off the rack today? Is there anything in there that doesn’t fit anymore? Chances are you’ll find a few things that fit at least one of these categories. Once you’ve separated these items, consider donating them to a thrift store or charitable cause. You know what they say – one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Invest in an All Around EZ® Wet Dry Vacuum.

A Shop-Vac® All Around EZ® Wet Dry Vacuum is a great tool for when you’re deep cleaning, but it’s also an awesome investment that can help keep your room clean on a regular basis. When you spill something – whether it’s crumbs from a midnight snack, or spilled milk, this vacuum will come to the rescue. It also comes with a variety of attachments to help you clean carpets, blinds and ceiling fans. Did we mention it has the power of a full-size vacuum in a convenient hand held model?

Consider a HEPA vacuum filter.

A HEPA filter is a type of high-efficiency filter, designed to capture the finest particles. HEPA filters are available for a variety of vacuums, including ours. Consider purchasing one to make sure all of the dust you sweep up stays in your vacuum and doesn’t blow back out into the air and onto your freshly cleaned space. This filter is a dream for people with allergies or asthma!

Make your bed.

Sure it’s important to wash your sheets and comforter, but there’s something as simple as a neatly made bed that makes a room look clean and organized. If you do nothing else on this room cleaning day, make your bed and admire what a difference it makes.
