Leak Detector
I used my All Around 3 gal 8.0 amp Wet/Dry ShopVac as a water leak detector. On the Saturday
before Christmas, I was walking through our dining room to get my early morning cup of coffee.
Toosh, Toosh, Toosh, I was walking through a water soaked carpet in my bare feet. I had
to go to work that day, so we called a plumber who came and
cut 11 large holes in our drywall and still could not find
the leak. They had assumed that it was a leaking pipe in the
concrete slab.
I came home and surveyed the entire mess, went to sleep and woke up in the middle of
the night with an idea. I thought that if I could vacuum up enough water with my new All
Around ShopVac, then perhaps I could turn the water back on, wait long enough and watch
to eventually see from what direction the water was coming.
It worked! I vacuumed up all the water and I could see it seeping, then I used my All
Around ShopVac to trace the direction from which the water was flowing. This took a little
while, so with flashlights everywhere, I found out exactly where the leak was coming from.
It was behind a small section of wall near floor level where the builders had nailed the
trim boards into the water pipe.
Yes, they forgot the stud guards, and we were able to get the builders to pay for everything!
But we never would have found it if it weren't for my new All Around ShopVac that I was
able to use to save us a lot of time and major headaches. Thank you ShopVac!
